Permanent position, 1.0 FTE.

Warwick Physics seeks to make a number of strategic academic appointments in the area of condensed matter physics (CMP). The appointments will be made at either Assistant or Associate Professor level dependent on the experience of the successful candidate.

CMP has a broad research agenda that spans traditional areas and emerging interdisciplinary investigations in semiconductors, ferroelectrics-multiferroics, diamond, 2D materials and other functional materials, including work on quantum technologies and strongly correlated electron physics. We invite applications from candidates who can collaborate with existing groups and bring new expertise in one or more of the following areas: quantum technologies, quantum technology for fundamental physics, quantum optics, electronic and magnetic properties of quantum, strongly correlated or superconducting materials, 2D materials including device fabrication and characterisation. We encourage applications from researchers who could collaborate with our well-equipped experimental groups, research facilities, theoreticians and computational materials modellers, and participate in cross-disciplinary partnerships across the faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine.

Successful applicants will augment the Department’s current portfolio of condensed matter physics research activities and will be strongly committed to excellence in both research and teaching. Applicants for this position should have a strong track record of publishing internationally leading research, and a clear vision of how their work would complement our existing research strengths. In addition to the above posts, we invite applications from outstanding scientists (experimentalists or theoreticians) who either already hold an externally funded Research Fellowship or are seeking a top-class institution with which to apply for such a Fellowship in a research area of interest to the department. Applications from early career researchers are encouraged.

Warwick Physics provides an exciting and highly supportive environment in which academics can develop their careers. We are fully committed to equality of opportunity and encourage applications and enquiries from all suitably qualified candidates. All posts can be held full or part-time.

Candidates must submit their application via the online application system, although informal enquiries can be addressed to the Head of Department, Professor Mark Newton.
