This five-year post has been created to fulfil an immediate teaching and research need in the area of materials for quantum technologies. Within the department, you will have the opportunity to contribute to and gain experience with undergraduate and post-graduate teaching in Materials Science. Undergraduate teaching will include lecture courses and practical classes, including assisting with developing new courses. You will also co-supervise final-year undergraduate research projects and post- graduate research projects. You will be expected to develop research activities both independently and working with internal and external collaborators. The department has current activity in the field of Materials for Quantum technologies, and some facilities associated with this work, and related characterisation tools for example. We are seeking to develop and expand this activity, and this post will form part of expected further developments in this field with the department and the wider university, e.g. through the Oxford Quantum Institute, in which the Department of Materials is a partner.

We seek someone with an (inter)national reputation and publication record in materials for quantum technologies who is keen to develop independent research programmes and to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training in materials for quantum technologies. If you meet these criteria and hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with significant post-qualification research experience, this could be your next role.

All applications must be made online using the Oxford University E-Recruitment system, no later than 12 noon on 11 December 2023. You will be required to upload a CV and a Supporting Statement as part of your application. Please do not attach any manuscripts, papers, transcripts, mark sheets or certificates as these will not be considered as part of your application.

Interviews are scheduled to take place at the Department of Materials on week commencing 5 February 2024. Please note in normal circumstances only interview travel expenses within the UK will be reimbursed.
