The Integrated Quantum Photonics group, led by Dr Luca Sapienza, is based in the Nanoscience Centre of the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom).
Our research is focused on the design, nanofabrication and optical characterisation of quantum photonic devices embedding single-photon emitters, for fundamental cavity quantum electrodynamics experiments and for applications in quantum technologies.
We carry out finite-difference time-domain simulations of electromagnetic wave propagation in optical cavities and waveguides, we nano-fabricate photonic devices in the cleanroom facilities available in the West Cambridge campus, and we optically characterise them by means of time-resolved micro-photoluminescence spectroscopy, down to cryogenic temperatures, from the visible to the infra-red range of wavelengths.

We have multiple Research Assistant/Associate positions open in the following areas:

  • Solid-state single-photon emitters in integrated quantum photonic devices
  • Aperiodic photonic devices for quantum and classical photonic applications
  • On-chip quantum biology
  • On-chip opto-mechanics with quantum emitters
  • Plasmonic devices for enhanced quantum light emission in Gallium Nitride

For more information on our research activities, please visit our website: https://quantum.eng.cam.ac.uk and feel free to contact Luca Sapienza at LS2052@cam.ac.uk for any enquiries.
