The Materials for Quantum Network (M4QN) and its Future directions for materials for quantum technologies report have been mentioned in the UK’s new National Materials Innovation Strategy which launched in January 2025.

The National Materials Innovation strategy was facilitated by The Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials (Royce), who brought together insights from materials scientists, engineering researchers and innovators, policymakers, and industrial leaders to address how Materials Innovation can contribute to important national priorities such as energy, healthcare, infrastructure, technology, communications and sustainability.

The strategy highlights how the materials sector currently contributes to the UK economy and provides a framework for the next 10 years, which aims to bring together government and the industrial and academic materials community to position the UK as a leader in materials innovation.
